Holiday Gift Guide: A Peaceful Home

November 14, 2014

This little gift collection is inspired by taking moments in one’s day to find calm and peace – it’s a crazy world out there, people!  These gifts are perfect for a friend who likes to create a comforting and tranquil space within their home, and to enjoy little things like cozying up in a blanket with a nice warming cup of tea.

All of these items come from independent boutiques and craftspeople.  Shop small!

1. Handmade coffee mugs: Top: Eric Bonnin Black Kam Mug | Bottom: Recreation Center Spotted Mug

Perfect for your tea & coffee drinkin’ friends.  Gift along with her favorite fair trade coffee or tea blend.

2.  West African Indigo Textile | Love Adorned Vintage

Really beautiful indigo dyed cotton textile. This would look perfect hanging on a wall or as a throw on the couch or foot of the bed.

3. Succulent hanging planter | The Pottery Lodge

There are TONS of great little gift items in this adorable Etsy shop. It was hard for me to pick one to choose to feature.  Gift with your favorite succulent or cactus.  These look cute in just about any space. All items are handmade and ship world wide from Houston, Texas.

4. Bath and Meditation Bundle {indigenous N. S.& Central American incense and Vegan Soap} | In Causa

Already perfectly packaged and ready to gift! This is a great little company working to support trade relationships with people of indigenous ethnicities by fostering the traditions of a particular tribe, introducing technical marketing tools, and facilitating the shipping and storage of goods produced.  In Causa currently sells their wares at various markets and stockists, but you can also e-mail them to make a purchase  { incause@mail.com } Sure, it might take a little more effort than simply shopping on-line, but it’s worth it.

5. Soothing bath soak | Royal Botanicals

Available in three scents {my favorite is vetiver} , this bath soak is made with dead sea salt, epsom salt, and organic essential oils. Would be perfect paired with the incense and bath bundle for a really relaxing gift.

6. Linen day blankets | Brook Farm General Store

100% linen blankets hand loomed in the good ol’ USA.

7. Paddywax Apothecary candles | Paddywax

Soy candles in vintage inspired apothecary jars in a variety of scents. My favorite is tobacco & patchouli.  They have no information on their packaging in terms of animal testing, so I reached out to them and they responded that their product is not tested on animals and no ingredients have been tested on animals. So, you can rest assured that they’re cruelty-free.

8. Cat eye mask | Cat Bird NYC

Nothing really says relaxing more than a daytime cat-nap.  It’s also super cute.

9. Agate & Geode coasters | Individual Medley

Great gift for someone who likes to bring natural elements into the home. Would be cute paired with either of the coffee mugs!

MKC
